NICK LYONS
Writer of Warlock
Published by: BlueWater Productions

Interviewed by: Richard Vasseur - (Posted: 12/21/2008)

Nick Lyons

Richard: What is the basic storyline here?

Nick: The Warlock is trying to destroy a spell book that has imprisoned six other Warlocks. Once the book is destroyed, the Warlocks will be released back into the world. Additionally, one of the six Warlocks is actually the main Warlock's brother.

Richard: How would you describe this warlocks personality?

Nick: Evil, loyal, fierce, and determined.

Richard: What is a warlock?

Nick: A Warlock is basically a male wizard/witch who uses dark magic.

Richard: What does this warlock want out of life?

Nick: The Warlock doesn't really have a life. He's a servant of the Devil and does what he is told. He does enjoy causing mayhem and carrying out orders, however.

Richard: Do you think fans of the movies will enjoy this?

Nick: I definitely think fans will enjoy the comics. Even though this 4 issue comic series contains a new story and a new Warlock, they are similar in tone with the film series.

Richard: Do you think Jacob Bear's art matches your writing?

Nick: Absolutely. Jacob's art perfectly captures the emotions and actions of the characters.

Richard: Why did you become a writer?

Nick: As clichéd as it is, George Lucas inspired me to become a storyteller because his films (namely "Star Wars") showed me just how powerful storytelling could be. Also, writing seemed like a natural fit for me as I had loved storytelling mediums like comics and films all of my life. I honestly could not picture myself in a profession that didn't involve those fields and so I started to study screenwriting to learn how to develop and structure a story. The rest, as they say, is history.

Richard: Would you like to try writing any other supernatural beings?

Nick: Yes. I love sci-fi and horror, so I will certainly be writing stories in those genres in the future.

Richard: What would you like to accomplish next?

Nick: One of my main goals is to write a screenplay for a feature film or for an episodic television series.

Richard: Who in the comics field do you admire?

Nick: Stan Lee and Brian K. Vaughan. Lee has such an incredible imagination and has created a ton of iconic characters. As for Vaughan, he is arguably the best writer in the comic industry today. "Y The Last Man," "Runaways," and "Ex Machina" are all superb works.

Richard: What would you do if you had magical powers?

Nick: The opposite of what the Warlock does with his powers. I would use my powers to help others.

Richard: Which other comic books would you recommend?

Nick: Some of my favorite comic books and graphic novels: "Wimbledon Green," "Kick-Ass," "The Rocketeer," "Superman: For All Seasons," "Fortune And Glory," "Blankets," "Batman: The Killing Joke," and "Will You Still Love Me If I Wet The Bed?".

Richard: How can someone contact you?

Nick: I can be contacted at MoviePhan2@aol.com

Richard: Any words for fans of the comics and movies?

Nick: Expect another "Warlock" announcement soon!
