Richard: Where were you born and raised and what was it like growing up?
Elisa: I was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Since I was a little girl my life was linked to the world of art. That's what my childhood was all about. I was given the chance to prove myself as an artist in many areas. For years, with my family's support, I participated in many art contests and even got one of my comic strips published when I was 10. So growing up was fun for me, since I was doing what I love from an early age.
Richard: What is the storyline of "Knight Reavers"?
Elisa: The story is about a team of highly trained Special Ops Agents tasked with defending the world from supernatural threats. The first issue deals with the team trying to track down a demon-like creature who prowls by night feasting on the life force of humans. I would describe Knight Reavers as a story full of action and eventualities, that readers of all ages would enjoy.
Richard: How would you describe your artwork on this comic?
Elisa: For this comic book, I decided to keep it simple. There's not much photorealism on the characters and most of the shading is added by the colorist. I'm still focused on creating a very atmospheric scene to involve the reader with the thrill of the situation.
Richard: What aspect of drawing attracts you?
Elisa: I think what interested me the most about drawing from the beginning was the fact that I could create anything and put it into paper, bringing an idea to life. There's nothing like been submerged in a world of your own.
Richard: Will "Knight Reavers" become a live action film or series?
Elisa: So far we only have a comic book project, but who knows... Maybe someday. It would be interesting to see a live action version of Knight Reavers.
Richard: How did you create your network of websites "Xtreme Media Studios"?
Elisa: I began working with the network when I was 13 years old. I had been building websites using pre-made templates for a while. But it wasn't until I had learnt enough about programming languages by myself, that I decided to design and build a whole business site called Xtreme Media Studios, that offered several multimedia services, but focused mainly on graphic design and web-design. Not long after the site was finished, I built a few other websites called XMS Games, XMS Blogs, etc... And that's how it became a network.
Richard: How would you describe the type of clothing your store carries?
Elisa: We offer a modern urban apparel for young women and men. Most of the products are graphic tees and hoodies. At the shop you can find alternative styles such as emo, punk, goth and even retro. Anything inspired by music.
Richard: Do you watch superhero based movies and shows?
Elisa: All the time! Specially those from Marvel or Dark Horse Comics.
Richard: What comics are you reading now and did you read as a child?
Elisa: Lately I’ve been reading all of the X-MEN series I can get. Also, I’ve been reading Buffy season 8, Spider-man loves Mary Jane and Emily the Strange. As a kid I used to read anything related to X-Men, Spider-man or Catwoman.
Richard: Who are some of your favorite superheroes?
Elisa: I've got so many favorite super-heroes, but definitely my top favorite would be Phoenix (if she counts). Also some of my all times favorites are Black Cat, Huntress, Spidey and of course... X-Girl.
Richard: Are comics in the Dominican Republic different than in North America?
Elisa: Well, actually, we don't have a comic book industry here in Dominican Republic yet. We do have comic strips and recently, a few fanboys got a chance to publish what they call "dominican manga". But when comic books are sold around here, they're always imported north American comics.
Richard: If you could have one super power what would it be and why?
Elisa: Turning invisible whenever I wanted to would be cool. I would never have to pay for anything.
Richard: How can someone contact you?
Elisa: I can be contacted through my personal website (www.ElisaFeliz.com) or my official MySpace account.
Richard: Any final words of wisdom?
Elisa: If I can give any good advice I would say: Don't ever let your parents choose your dreams. No matter what they choose, drawing is always cooler!
