Richard: How did you create "Parthenon"?
Dan: I created Parthenonís powers and quest first. I knew I always wanted him to be growing as a character, so I created the quest for the gemstones of Atlantis. I bought this old bracelet at a garage sale and that was the inspiration for the Armaguard. The rest of the character developed out of this.
Richard: What is the Armaguard?
Dan: The Armaguard is where all of Parthenonís powers come from. It holds the Allstone in the middle of it. It gives him super strength, invulnerability, and flight. It also acts as a sponge and absorbs the powers of the other Atlantian gemstones that he finds.
Right now Parthenon has 3 gems and they are: The Echo Emerald which produces a sonic blast. The Eye of Apollo Diamond which emits a force shield. The Museís Moonstone which allows him to create illusions.
Richard: How did you like hanging out with the other contestants?
Dan: The other heroes in the lair were fantastic. They were the best part of being on the show. We still talk all of the time and we all have become great friends.
Richard: What were the highs and lows of the show for you?
Dan: The highest point on the show for me was actually walking into the lair for the first time. It truly felt like the beginning of an adventure and it was fantastic!
The lowest part of the show was when I got voted out. My elimination caught me off guard and I was not prepared for it.
Richard: You see yourself as a gay role model, how and why?
Dan: I do see myself as a gay role model. I kept that in my head while I was in the lair. I always tried to act with honor an integrity and really wanted to be someone who could be looked up to, both inside the lair and outside it.
Richard: What was it like meeting Stan Lee?
Dan: Meeting Stan Lee was great! I have wanted to meet him since I first heard his distinct voice as the narrator on Spider-man and His Amazing Friends! He is extremely quick witted and exactly as you would imagine that he would be.
Richard: What about Parthenon makes him a good superhero?
Dan: Parthenon is a good superhero because for a number of reasons. He has a great nemesis in Victorious. He is an evil treasure hunter who is on the search for the gemstones as well. He is constantly battling Parthenon for each stone. Parthenon also has to overcome a large weakness. He can only use one power at a time. So even though he has a lot of powers, he has to be smart when using them! So instead of winning by brute strength he uses his head instead.
Richard: Do you follow any of the gay couples in comics?
Dan: I follow a lot of comic series. I donít really chose them by if they are gay or not, I chose them by their storylines. However at the moment I am enjoying Young Avengers and Runaways both of which have gay characters in them.
Richard: Which comic book superheroes do you like and which real heroes do you admire?
Dan: I am a huge fan of Hank Pym aka Antman, Giantman, Goliath and Yellow Jacket. He changed costumes a lot during his career! I always like him because he was a scientist who became a superhero, I think I am always drawn to the "intelligent" heroes more than the Hulk type who just smashes everything.
Richard: Would you like to do more on TV?
Dan: I would not mind doing more on TV, but I am also really looking forward to appearing at some of the comic book conventions! It is going to be great to get out there and meet the fans from the show.
Richard: How do you spend your spare time?
Dan: I donít have a lot of spare time lately, but when I do you will most likely find me at the mall or the movies. I love to shop and I have had a passion for movies ever since I was a kid.
Richard: What comics did you read as a child and do you read now?
Dan: I read a lot of different titles, but by far I like the Avengers. It was the first book that I ever read and I still read it till today.
Richard: Any last words?
Dan: I just want to say that anyone can be a hero and this show proves it. If everyone looks inside themselves and does what is right, the world would be a greater place.
